The Ruby Renaissance at Bangkok Gems
Rubies have long been cherished worldwide for their deep red hue and symbolic meanings of wealth and prosperity. In the Chinese market, their popularity has seen a significant rise. A recent report by Gemfields indicates that 61% of Chinese consumers consider rubies a desirable acquisition, with 55% having purchased them in the past year. The study also reveals that rubies are nearly twice as popular as sapphires in terms of awareness and are three times more favored than emeralds regarding desirability and purchase. This growing fascination is deeply rooted in Chinese cultural aesthetics, where rubies are viewed as symbols of traditional culture and the embodiment of "new Chinese" aesthetics, making them suitable for everyday wear.
The 71st Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair will take place from 22-26 February, 2025, spanning Halls 1–8 (G and LG floors) at QSNCC, Bangkok.
